Lead Process Engineer - Mineral Processing

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative Lead Process Engineer to join their dynamic team, offering a fully remote work arrangement. This senior role is crucial for optimizing mineral processing operations, developing new metallurgical techniques, and enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of our extraction processes. You will play a key role in designing, troubleshooting, and scaling up processing plants, working closely with site-based teams and R&D departments. This position is ideal for a seasoned engineer looking to leverage their expertise in a challenging and rewarding remote environment, driving process improvements across multiple global mining assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize mineral processing circuits (e.g., crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching).
• Conduct pilot plant studies and scale-up analyses for new metallurgical processes.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and implement process improvements to increase recovery and reduce costs.
• Develop process simulation models and use data analytics to identify optimization opportunities.
• Write detailed technical reports, process design documents, and equipment specifications.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure integrated plant design and operation.
• Provide technical guidance and support to site-based process engineers and operations teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in mineral processing and metallurgy, with a strong track record in process design and optimization.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., METSIM, HSC Chemistry, Outotec HSC) and CAD tools.
• Experience with various comminution and solid-liquid separation technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Excellent remote collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
