About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Process Engineer to drive innovation and efficiency in their manufacturing facility located in Birmingham . This senior role involves overseeing the design, development, and implementation of complex chemical processes, ensuring they meet stringent safety, environmental, and quality standards. You will mentor a team of engineers and chemists, manage key projects from conception to completion, and play a critical role in advancing our client's technological capabilities. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of chemical process development, from initial design and laboratory trials to pilot and full-scale manufacturing.
- Manage and mentor a team of process engineers and chemists, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Develop detailed process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment specifications for new and modified chemical plants.
- Conduct rigorous process hazard analyses (PHAs ), risk assessments, and implement robust safety protocols.
- Optimize existing chemical processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and safety standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in chemical process design and optimization.
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex engineering projects and leading technical teams.
- Proficiency in process simulation software, hazard analysis techniques, and HAZOP studies.
- In-depth knowledge of chemical plant operations, equipment, and safety systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
