Lead Process Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Process Engineer to head up their process engineering team in Portsmouth . This senior role demands a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and strategic thinking. You will be responsible for overseeing all process engineering activities, driving innovation, and ensuring the efficient and safe operation of their manufacturing facilities. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the future of their process operations and mentoring a team of talented engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of process engineers, providing technical guidance and professional development support.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of complex chemical processes and systems.
• Develop and enforce best practices in process engineering, ensuring compliance with industry standards and UK environmental regulations .
• Manage key projects, from initial concept through to successful commissioning and handover.
• Conduct regular performance reviews of existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency and cost reduction.
• Act as a key technical advisor to senior management on all process-related matters.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Significant experience (8+ years) in process engineering, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
• Expertise in process design, simulation (e.g., Aspen Plus), and troubleshooting complex chemical systems.
• Strong understanding of process safety management (PSM) principles and HAZOP studies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working in the manufacturing sector in the Hampshire region is advantageous.
