Lead Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is searching for a distinguished Lead Process Safety Engineer to establish and champion safety protocols across their operations, with a primary focus on their facilities near Sunderland . This senior position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust process safety management systems. You will lead risk assessment initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the company's Process Safety Management (PSM) program.
• Lead and conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international process safety regulations and standards.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs for employees at all levels.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide expert guidance and support to project teams on process safety aspects of new designs and modifications.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline with a specialization in safety.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in process safety engineering within the chemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, hazard analysis techniques, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Strong understanding of relevant legislation and industry best practices.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
