About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Process Safety Engineer to join their expanding operations team based in Coventry . This senior role is pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all their engineering projects and operational facilities within the oil and gas sector . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety management systems, conducting rigorous risk assessments, and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization. The successful candidate will be a proactive leader, adept at managing complex safety challenges and driving continuous improvement in safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of the company's process safety management (PSM) system, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct and oversee Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, and FMEA studies for new and existing facilities.
- Develop and review Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments and ensure appropriate safety instrumented systems (SIS) are designed and maintained.
- Investigate process safety incidents, near misses, and deviations, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide expert guidance and mentorship to project teams and operational staff on process safety engineering principles and best practices.
- Act as a key interface with regulatory bodies, auditors, and external stakeholders on all matters relating to process safety in the oil and gas industry .
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant (10+ years) experience in process safety engineering, with a strong focus on the oil and gas industry .
- In-depth knowledge of international safety standards such as IEC 61511, API RP 750, and OSHA PSM.
- Proven experience in conducting various types of Process Hazard Analyses and risk assessments.
- Strong understanding of safety instrumented systems (SIS), hazardous area classifications, and emergency response planning.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
