Lead Production Engineer | Bordon, £55,000 + Benefits
A growing manufacturing business in Oxfordshire is looking for a hands‑on Lead Production Engineer to take ownership of manufacturing engineering activities, support production performance and help drive continuous improvement across the shop floor.
This is a great opportunity for somebody with a strong manufacturing engineering background who enjoys solving day‑to‑day production challenges, improving processes and working closely with operators, production and wider engineering teams. The role would suit somebody looking for a first step into a broader leadership position where they can influence culture, coach others and make a visible impact within the business.
As a Lead Production Engineer, you will:
- Lead manufacturing engineering activities across production
- Support day-to-day production issues, quality concerns and equipment challenges
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the shop floor
- Improve manufacturing processes, documentation and work instructions
- Support NPI and engineering development builds
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain and Design teams
- Analyse production data to improve efficiency, consistency and output
- Support tooling, fixtures, test equipment and manufacturing processes
- Coach and support junior engineers and production staff
- Help develop a stronger lean manufacturing culture across the site
Skills required from the Lead Production Engineer:
- Strong manufacturing or production engineering background
- Continuous improvement / Lean manufacturing experience
- Experience supporting production and resolving engineering issues
- Ability to improve manufacturing processes and documentation
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working with cross-functional teams
- Understanding of manufacturing equipment, tooling and fixtures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Confident problem solver with a practical, hands‑on approach
