Lead Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and commercially astute Lead Quantity Surveyor to head up their commercial team on major construction projects in the Nottingham region. This senior role requires a comprehensive understanding of contract management, cost control, and financial reporting to ensure the profitability and success of projects. You will be responsible for leading a team of quantity surveyors, managing client and subcontractor relationships, and providing expert commercial advice. Key Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial aspects of assigned construction projects, from procurement to final account settlement.
• Lead and mentor a team of quantity surveyors, overseeing their workload and professional development.
• Prepare, negotiate, and manage all subcontractor agreements and payments.
• Ensure robust cost control measures are in place, monitoring project expenditure against budget and forecasting.
• Prepare accurate interim valuations, final accounts, and variations, ensuring timely submission.
• Adhere to and promote company policies and procedures related to commercial management and contract administration .

Requirements

• A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior role.
• In-depth knowledge of various UK contract forms, including JCT and NEC .
• Proven experience in managing complex construction projects and their commercial success.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and financial management skills.
• Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
