Lead Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Lead Quantity Surveyor to oversee the commercial aspects of major construction projects in Brighton . You will be responsible for managing all costs, contracts, and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle, leading a team of quantity surveyors and cost engineers. This hybrid role demands a strong commercial acumen, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to effectively manage both on-site and remote team members. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring profitability, mitigating financial risks, and maintaining strong client relationships, driving commercial success for a variety of prestigious projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple construction projects from inception to completion.
• Develop and implement cost management strategies, including budgeting, forecasting, and value engineering.
• Oversee the procurement process, negotiation of contracts, and management of subcontractors.
• Manage variations, claims, and disputes, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of quantity surveyors and commercial staff.
• Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations and company policies.

Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
• Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor , with significant experience in a lead or senior role.
• In-depth knowledge of various forms of construction contracts and procurement methods.
• Strong negotiation, leadership, and financial management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, managing teams both on and off-site.
