Lead Recovery Worker - Healthy Living Coordinator

Join us as we launch a brand-new residential rehabilitation and Discharge to Assess service supporting people with complex mental health needs to achieve greater independence and successful move-on outcomes. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Recovery Worker - Healthy Living Coordinator to help shape and develop The Stewarts, an innovative residential service providing both Intensive Enablement and Discharge to Assess (D2A) pathways. As the Healthy Living Coordinator, you will take the lead in promoting physical health, emotional wellbeing and healthy lifestyles across the service. Working alongside Recovery Workers, healthcare professionals and community partners, you will develop opportunities that empower people to improve their health, build confidence, increase independence and achieve their recovery goals. Passionate about helping people live healthier and more fulfilling lives, you will champion a whole-person approach to recovery, supporting people to address health inequalities, improve wellbeing and develop sustainable lifestyle changes that support long-term independence.

Please note, this is a Recovery Worker role with a percentage of time spent doing Healthy Living Coordinator responsibilities.

About the Role

As the Healthy Living Coordinator, you will act as the service lead for health and wellbeing initiatives, ensuring physical health and healthy lifestyle interventions are embedded within everyday recovery support. You will work collaboratively with people we support, colleagues and external professionals to create a culture where health, wellbeing and recovery are everyone's business.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of the service's Healthy Living Programme.
• Promote physical health, emotional wellbeing and healthier lifestyles across all areas of the service.
• Support people we support to identify and achieve personal health and wellbeing goals as part of their recovery journey.
• Develop and facilitate health promotion workshops, wellbeing groups and educational sessions.
• Encourage participation in physical activity, community wellbeing programmes and recreational opportunities.
• Build partnerships with local health providers, community organisations and leisure services to increase opportunities available to residents.
• Support people to access primary healthcare services, screening programmes, health appointments and preventative health initiatives.
• Champion a holistic approach to recovery, recognising the connection between physical health, mental wellbeing and independence.
• Monitor participation and outcomes, using data and feedback to continuously improve health-focused initiatives.
• Act as a specialist resource for colleagues, providing guidance, coaching and best-practice advice on health and wellbeing.
• Lead projects and initiatives that improve wellbeing, independence and social inclusion.
• Support people to overcome barriers that may affect their recovery, wellbeing and quality of life.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated and person-centred support.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to audits, quality assurance activities and service improvement initiatives.
• Provide day-to-day leadership, mentoring and support to Recovery Workers where appropriate.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced and motivated practitioner who is passionate about supporting people to improve their health, wellbeing and independence. You will have:

• Experience working within mental health, social care, supported housing or community services.
• A strong understanding of recovery-focused and person-centred approaches.
• Experience supporting individuals with complex mental health needs.
• Knowledge of physical health promotion, wellbeing and healthy lifestyle approaches.
• Experience delivering groups, workshops or wellbeing interventions.
• Strong communication, leadership and relationship-building skills.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, risk management and professional boundaries.
• Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Confidence using digital systems and maintaining accurate records.
• A commitment to inclusion, equality and continuous improvement.
• A Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
