Lead Research Scientist - Molecular Genetics

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Research Scientist to spearhead their molecular genetics research initiatives in Birmingham . Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of research scientists and technicians focused on molecular genetics.

• Develop and optimize molecular assays and high-throughput screening platforms.
• Analyze and interpret complex genetic data, utilizing statistical and bioinformatic tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinicians and bioinformaticians, to integrate genetic findings into broader research programs.
• Author scientific publications, present research findings at conferences, and contribute to patent applications.

Requirements

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related life science discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on research experience in molecular genetics, with a proven track record of leading projects.
• Extensive experience with various molecular biology techniques, including PCR, qPCR, NGS library preparation, and gene editing.
• Strong understanding of genetic principles, Mendelian and complex disease genetics.
• Experience with data analysis software and statistical methods relevant to genetic studies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster a collaborative research environment.
