Lead Security Architect

About the Role

Our client is looking for a visionary Lead Security Architect to spearhead the design and implementation of robust, scalable security solutions for their operations in Cardiff . This senior role will define the strategic direction of the company's security architecture, ensuring that security is integrated into every aspect of the technology landscape. You will collaborate with IT leadership, engineering teams, and business units to develop and articulate security strategies that align with business objectives and mitigate risk effectively. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the overall enterprise security architecture blueprint, ensuring alignment with business strategy and risk appetite.
• Design and oversee the implementation of security controls, frameworks, and technologies across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on security architecture best practices to project teams and stakeholders.
• Evaluate emerging security technologies and make recommendations for adoption.
• Lead threat modeling exercises and security design reviews for new applications and infrastructure.
• Ensure security architecture meets regulatory compliance requirements, such as GDPR and ISO 27001.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in information security , with at least 5 years in a dedicated security architecture role.
• Proven expertise in designing secure cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, and container security.
• Deep understanding of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, TOGAF) and risk management principles.
• Experience with identity and access management (IAM), cryptography, and network security architecture.
• Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, vital for influencing stakeholders in Cardiff .
