About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and forward-thinking Lead Security Engineer to join their team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to critical security initiatives from anywhere in the UK. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security systems and policies to protect the company's infrastructure and data. This leadership role requires a strategic mindset, deep technical expertise in cybersecurity, and the ability to mentor junior engineers. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our security architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of security solutions across cloud and on-premise environments.
- Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance and protect assets.
- Oversee incident response activities, conduct forensic investigations, and provide post-incident analysis.
- Perform security architecture reviews and vulnerability assessments, driving remediation efforts.
- Mentor and guide a team of security engineers, fostering their technical growth and development.
- Stay informed about emerging threats and vulnerabilities, proactively adapting security measures.
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity engineering and architecture.
- Deep understanding of network security, application security, cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP), and cryptography.
- Proven experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, WAFs, and vulnerability scanners.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
- Experience with security frameworks like NIST or ISO 27001.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning capabilities.
