Lead Solar Farm Developer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Lead Solar Farm Developer to manage the full lifecycle of solar projects in the Bristol region. This senior position involves identifying development opportunities, securing land, managing planning and consenting processes, and coordinating with engineering and construction teams through to financial close. You will play a pivotal role in expanding renewable energy capacity, contributing directly to the UK's decarbonization goals within the vibrant energy sector . This role requires a blend of commercial acumen, technical understanding, and strong project management skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and secure suitable sites for utility-scale solar farm development.
• Lead the acquisition of land rights, grid connection agreements, and environmental permits.
• Manage relationships with landowners, local authorities, statutory consultees, and other key stakeholders.
• Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and commercial arrangements.
• Coordinate with internal engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) teams and external consultants.
• Drive projects through the planning and consenting process, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Geography, or Business.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a strong focus on solar PV.
• Demonstrated success in delivering solar projects from inception to financial close.
• In-depth knowledge of the UK planning system, grid connection processes, and renewable energy policy.
• Strong commercial negotiation and contract management skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
