About the Role
Our client, a pioneering force in the renewable energy landscape , is looking for an experienced Lead Solar Project Developer to join their fully remote team. This strategic role will drive the identification, assessment, and development of new solar energy projects across the UK, from initial concept through to financial close. You will leverage your expertise in site acquisition, planning, grid connections, and stakeholder engagement to build a robust project pipeline and secure key partnerships. This is a unique opportunity to lead significant solar initiatives and make a substantial contribution to the UK's transition to clean energy, working with maximum flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and secure suitable sites for large-scale solar PV projects, including land acquisition and option agreements.
- Lead the planning application process, liaising with local authorities and planning consultants.
- Manage grid connection applications and negotiations with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Transmission Owners (TOs).
- Develop comprehensive project development plans, budgets, and timelines.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, investors, and other key stakeholders.
- Conduct feasibility studies and preliminary technical and financial assessments for potential projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, Planning).
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in project development , specifically within the solar energy sector .
- Proven track record of successfully developing and bringing solar projects to financial close.
- In-depth knowledge of the UK planning system, grid connection processes, and renewable energy policy.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently in a remote setting.
