About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Structural Engineer to join their esteemed engineering team in Birmingham . This senior position is central to the company's building design division, where you will oversee the structural integrity and design of a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, and public buildings. You will lead project teams, provide expert technical advice, and ensure innovative, safe, and cost-effective structural solutions are delivered. This role is ideal for a technically proficient engineer with strong leadership capabilities who is looking to shape significant architectural projects and drive engineering excellence within a reputable firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design process for new build and refurbishment projects, from conceptual design through to detailed construction drawings.
- Manage a team of structural engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
- Conduct structural analysis using advanced software and ensure designs meet all relevant building codes and standards.
- Liaise with architects, contractors, and clients to resolve design issues and ensure project success.
- Review designs, calculations, and technical reports produced by the team.
- Undertake site visits to monitor construction progress and address any structural queries.
Requirements
- Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural specialization.
- Professional Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in structural engineering, with a significant focus on building structures.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, Tekla Structural Designer).
- In-depth knowledge of UK building regulations (Approved Document A) and relevant British Standards.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and excellent communication abilities.
