Lead Technical Artist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative Lead Technical Artist to join their fully remote development team. You will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between art and technology, developing tools, workflows, and pipelines that empower the art team to create stunning assets for games and interactive experiences within the Arts & Entertainment sector. This role requires a blend of artistic sensibility, deep technical knowledge, and strong leadership skills to guide a distributed team. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize art pipelines, tools, and workflows to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Collaborate closely with artists, engineers, and designers to solve technical art challenges and implement features.
• Create and manage complex shaders, materials, and lighting setups within game engines.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to art assets and engine integration.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the art team, fostering best practices and skill development.
• Research and implement new technologies and techniques to improve art production.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of experience as a Technical Artist in the games or interactive media industry, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
• Strong proficiency in at least one major game engine (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, MEL, C#).
• Expertise in 3D modeling, texturing, and rendering software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Substance Suite, ZBrush).
• Solid understanding of shader development, material creation, and optimization techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Proven experience working effectively in a remote team environment.
