About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Lead Technical Artist to join their team in Sheffield . This pivotal role involves bridging the gap between art and technology, ensuring the smooth and efficient creation of high-quality visual assets. You will lead a team of technical artists, develop and maintain art pipelines, create cutting-edge shaders, and solve complex technical challenges to achieve stunning visual fidelity and performance. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the technical art team, providing guidance on tools, pipelines, and best practices.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust art pipelines and workflows for various departments.
• Create and optimize complex shaders, materials, and rendering effects for game engines.
• Collaborate with artists and engineers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to asset creation and integration.
• Optimize game assets for performance, ensuring efficient memory usage and frame rates across target platforms.
• Stay current with new technologies and techniques in real-time rendering and game development.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Technical Artist, with significant experience in a leadership role.
• Strong proficiency in 3D art creation tools (e.g., Maya, Blender, Substance Suite) and game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
• Expertise in shader development (HLSL, GLSL) and material creation.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, MEL) for tool development and pipeline automation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex technical challenges.
• Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
