Lead Telecoms Field Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated and experienced Lead Telecoms Field Engineer to join their team in Portsmouth . This role involves undertaking a wide range of installation, maintenance, and repair activities for telecommunications equipment and infrastructure across various customer sites. You will provide technical expertise and leadership in the field, ensuring the highest standards of service delivery and customer satisfaction. This position requires a hands-on approach, excellent diagnostic skills, and the ability to work independently while representing our client professionally on-site. You will be a key player in maintaining and expanding our client's service capabilities in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment and systems at customer locations.
• Perform routine maintenance, preventative checks, and repairs on network infrastructure.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
• Provide on-site technical support and guidance to customers.
• Lead and mentor junior field engineers, offering technical assistance and training.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and site conditions.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Field Engineer in the telecommunications industry.
• Strong technical knowledge of telecommunications systems, including fiber optics, copper cabling, and networking equipment.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Valid driving license and a willingness to travel extensively within the designated area.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Experience leading a small team is a significant advantage.
