About the Role
Our client is seeking a visionary Lead Telecoms Systems Architect to spearhead the design and evolution of their telecommunications infrastructure in Birmingham . This senior position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of current and future telecom technologies, including 5G, cloud-native architectures, and software-defined networking. You will be responsible for defining the technical vision, architecture, and standards that guide the development and deployment of our client's next-generation network solutions. This role is crucial for maintaining a competitive edge and ensuring our client's systems are scalable, resilient, and future-proof. The position is based in our client's Birmingham office, requiring full-time presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and document the overall system architecture for new and existing telecommunications platforms.
- Lead the evaluation and selection of new technologies and vendors to align with strategic goals.
- Develop technical roadmaps and transition plans for evolving the network infrastructure.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams throughout the design and implementation phases.
- Collaborate with product management, operations, and business stakeholders to ensure architectural alignment.
- Oversee the integration of various network components and systems to ensure seamless operation.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Extensive experience (8+ years) in telecommunications network design and architecture.
- Proven expertise in areas such as mobile network architecture (4G/5G), cloud computing (AWS, Azure), and SDN/NFV.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, signalling, and telecommunication standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects and influence cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
