About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary Lead Theatre Lighting Designer to join their prestigious company based in Coventry . This role is central to crafting the visual atmosphere of stage productions, working at the forefront of theatrical innovation. You will be responsible for the complete design process, from initial concept development and mood boards to the final implementation and operation of lighting systems for a diverse range of plays, musicals, and events. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of creating stunning and impactful lighting designs that enhance storytelling and captivate audiences within the vibrant West Midlands arts scene.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute innovative lighting designs for stage productions, ensuring aesthetic coherence and technical feasibility.
• Create detailed lighting plots, cue sheets, and specification documents for technical teams.
• Collaborate closely with directors, set designers, and costume designers to achieve a unified artistic vision.
• Oversee the installation, focusing, and programming of lighting equipment.
• Manage the lighting budget effectively and source appropriate equipment and technical personnel.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' experience as a professional Lighting Designer , with a significant portfolio of stage productions.
• Proficiency with lighting design software such as AutoCAD, Vectorworks, and WYSIWYG.
• In-depth knowledge of theatrical lighting equipment, control systems (e.g., ETC, Grand MA), and rigging practices.
• Ability to translate artistic concepts into practical and effective lighting solutions.
• Excellent project management and communication skills, with the ability to lead and inspire technical crews.
