About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Theatre Technician to oversee the technical operations of their vibrant performing arts venue in Leicester . This pivotal role involves managing all aspects of lighting, sound, and stage mechanics to ensure seamless productions and exceptional audience experiences. You will lead a small team of technicians, fostering a collaborative and safety-conscious environment, and play a key part in bringing diverse artistic visions to life. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all technical aspects of theatre productions, including lighting, sound, and set changes.
- Manage and maintain the theatre's technical equipment, ensuring it is in optimal working condition and meets safety standards.
- Lead, train, and mentor a team of junior technicians, assigning tasks and overseeing their performance.
- Collaborate closely with directors, designers, and stage managers to achieve their technical requirements for each production.
- Develop and manage technical budgets, sourcing materials and equipment efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the theatre environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Theatre Technician, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Proficiency in stage lighting design and operation, including programming complex lighting cues.
- Expertise in sound engineering , including mixing, PA systems, and microphone techniques.
- Strong understanding of stage mechanics, rigging, and set construction.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by production schedules.
