About the Role
Our client, a cutting-edge video game development studio based in Leeds , is looking for a talented and experienced Lead UI/UX Designer to shape the player experience for their upcoming titles. This role is critical in defining the visual language and interactive flow of game interfaces, ensuring they are intuitive, engaging, and aesthetically aligned with the game's vision. You will lead a team of designers, collaborate closely with game designers and engineers, and champion user-centered design principles throughout the development cycle. This is an excellent remote opportunity for a passionate game designer to leave their mark on exciting new interactive experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) for current and future game projects.
- Develop wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and style guides for game menus, HUDs, and in-game interactions.
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and A/B testing to gather insights and iterate on designs.
- Collaborate with game designers, artists, and programmers to ensure seamless integration of UI/UX elements.
- Mentor and guide junior UI/UX designers, providing constructive feedback and fostering skill development.
- Champion best practices in UI/UX design within the development team and advocate for the player's perspective.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in UI/UX design, with a significant portion focused on video games.
- A strong portfolio showcasing successful game UI/UX design projects and demonstrating a deep understanding of user-centered design principles.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch).
- Experience leading design teams and managing design projects from concept to completion.
- Excellent understanding of game design principles, player psychology, and interaction design.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills, able to articulate design decisions effectively.
