Learning Disability Support Worker

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and patient Learning Disability Support Worker to join their team in Sheffield . This role is focused on providing person-centered support to individuals with learning disabilities, enabling them to lead fulfilling and independent lives within their community. You will assist service users with daily living activities, promote social inclusion, and support them in pursuing their interests and goals. This position requires a compassionate individual committed to fostering dignity, respect, and independence for all those they support, working within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to individuals with learning disabilities in their homes and community settings, promoting independence and choice.
• Assist with personal care, daily living tasks, medication administration (as trained), and household chores.
• Support service users to engage in meaningful activities, hobbies, social events, and educational opportunities.
• Communicate effectively with service users, families, and a multidisciplinary team to ensure care plans are met.
• Promote a safe and supportive environment, adhering to all safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Help individuals to develop life skills and achieve their personal goals, celebrating their achievements.

Requirements

• Previous experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities is essential.
• A caring, patient, and understanding nature, with a genuine desire to help others.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt communication styles.
• Understanding of the principles of person-centered care and promoting independence.
• Ability to work flexibly, including shifts, and as part of a dedicated team.
