Learning Disability Support Worker

About the Role

Our client is looking for a kind-hearted and dependable Learning Disability Support Worker to become part of their dedicated Community & Social Care team in Edinburgh . This role is centred on providing compassionate and person-centred care to individuals with learning disabilities, enabling them to lead fulfilling lives within their community. You will assist clients with a variety of daily tasks, promote independence, and support their social and emotional well-being. Working in Edinburgh , you will contribute to a positive and inclusive environment, promoting dignity and respect for all individuals, and fostering their integration into the wider community.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct support with personal care, including hygiene, dressing, and feeding, with respect and dignity.
• Assist clients with domestic tasks, household management, and meal preparation.
• Support clients to engage in social activities, hobbies, and community outings.
• Encourage and promote independence in daily living skills, adapting support as needs change.
• Administer medication as per prescribed instructions and organisational policies, reporting any issues.
• Observe and report any changes in client health or behaviour to the supervisor or relevant professionals.

Requirements

• Previous experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities is preferred but not essential.
• A patient, compassionate, and understanding nature.
• Good communication and listening skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• Willingness to undertake mandatory training and pursue further qualifications.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, as required.
