Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

About the Role

Our client is looking for a caring and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive primary school in Sheffield . This role involves providing essential assistance to students, particularly those with special educational needs or those requiring extra support to access the curriculum. You will work closely with teachers to create an inclusive learning environment, helping students to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of young learners and contribute to a positive educational experience within the South Yorkshire community.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one or small group support to students, assisting with academic tasks and learning activities.
• Support teachers in classroom management and the implementation of lesson plans.
• Help students develop social and emotional skills, fostering positive behaviour and inclusion.
• Assist with the preparation of learning materials and resources.
• Supervise students during breaks, lunchtimes, and extracurricular activities as required.
• Liaise with teachers and SENCO regarding student progress and any emerging needs.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
• An understanding of child development and basic learning support strategies.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support student learning.
• A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent is advantageous.
