Learning Support Assistant - Special Educational Needs

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and patient Learning Support Assistant to assist students with special educational needs (SEN) in an educational setting in Brighton . In this rewarding role, you will work closely with teachers and specialists to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student can achieve their potential. You will provide tailored assistance to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and participate fully in classroom activities. Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, following individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Assist students with classroom tasks, learning activities, and practical exercises as directed by the teacher.
• Help students develop essential life skills and improve their social and emotional well-being.
• Support students with mobility, personal care, and accessibility needs, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
• Monitor student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to assessment processes.
• Foster a positive and encouraging classroom atmosphere, promoting inclusion and participation for all students.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children or young people, preferably with special educational needs (SEN).
• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with students and staff.
• Basic understanding of child development and learning support strategies.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training, such as SEN support or first aid.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of an educational team.
