SEMH Teaching Assistant - Kingston & Surrey
Location: Kingston & Surrey
Job Type: Full-time / Long-term / Permanent opportunities
Start Date: September 2026
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience
Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting SEMH Teaching Assistants to work across specialist schools, alternative provisions and mainstream settings throughout Kingston and Surrey.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people who may experience social, emotional and mental health needs, challenging behaviour, anxiety, attachment difficulties or barriers to learning.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support
Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour
Help pupils engage with their learning
Work closely with teachers and pastoral teams
Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage progress
Support pupils' confidence, independence and social developmentWe're looking for someone who is:
Patient, calm and consistent
Resilient and confident managing challenging behaviour
Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers
Able to build strong professional relationships
Experienced in education, youth work, care, support work or a similar environmentExperience with SEMH, AP, PRU or challenging behaviour is highly desirable, but we are also interested in candidates with transferable experience.
