Job Description
Learning Support Assistant
Location: Taunton
Start Date: September
Salary: £14.25 - £15.50 per hour
We work with a small specialist education setting in Taunton, offering a welcoming, happy and safe learning environment where every child is valued, achievements are celebrated, and pupils are supported to become confident, responsible and independent learners through a therapeutic approach to education.
In this role you will support pupils aged 8 to 19 with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, working on a 1:1 basis, in small groups and within the classroom to promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND or additional learning needs
- A calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting pupils with complex needs
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
- The ability to manage challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
- A proactive attitude and willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team
- A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their full potential
