Job Description
We are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive school in Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and wants to make a genuine difference to their education and development.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide one-to-one and small-group support, helping pupils to access learning, build confidence and develop their independence.
The role may involve supporting pupils with SEN and additional learning needs, so previous experience within a school, SEN, care or youth setting would be highly beneficial. We are particularly interested in candidates who are patient, resilient, empathetic and confident in building positive relationships with pupils.
Key responsibilities
Providing classroom and learning support to pupils Working on a one-to-one and small-group basis Supporting pupils with additional learning needs and SEN Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills Working alongside teachers and the wider support team Supporting positive behaviour and maintaining a calm learning environment Adapting support to meet individual pupil needs Encouraging pupils to engage positively with their education
What we're looking for:
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable SEN experience is highly beneficial A patient, caring and understanding approach Strong communication and interpersonal skills Resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations A genuine passion for helping young people succeed Relevant qualifications are desirable but not always essential, depending on experienceThis is a great opportunity for graduates, experienced LSAs/TAs, support workers, youth workers and individuals looking to build a career within education and SEN.
