Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in Cyber Security

Overview

In this role you join the Cyber security, Safety and Governance research group to shape its vision and advance Bath’s international reputation in cyber security. You will conduct groundbreaking research, secure funding, and publish results while collaborating across AI, HCI, and related domains. The post blends research leadership with teaching across UG/PG courses and engagement with industry and policymakers. You will contribute to a supportive student experience and lead/participate in research teams, driving impact beyond academia.

Responsibilities

• develop and publish research papers in cyber security
• apply for and manage research funding
• translate research into societal impact through industry engagement, spin-outs, charity collaboration, policymaker engagement, and public talks
• design and deliver teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate courses
• lead or contribute to internal department activities (student placements, ethics, recruitment, admissions, research team leadership)

Key requirements

• PhD in a relevant discipline with a first degree or equivalent experience
• substantial research experience with an emerging track record for lecturers or an established profile with funding success for senior positions
• strong conceptual understanding of the subject and experience teaching UG/PG levels
• excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills; ability to build collaborations
• commitment to research and teaching excellence, student experience, and ethical professional conduct
• for Senior Lecturer/Reader: academic leadership, clear research vision and knowledge of modern teaching methodologies
