Legal Counsel - Real Estate

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Legal Counsel with a specialization in Real Estate Law to join their established practice in Sunderland . This role is integral to managing the legal aspects of the company's property portfolio, including acquisitions, disposals, leases, and development projects. You will work closely with the property and finance teams, providing essential legal support and ensuring all transactions comply with relevant legislation and company policy. Key Responsibilities

• Manage all legal aspects of property acquisitions, disposals, and portfolio management.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial leases, sales contracts, and other property-related documents.
• Provide legal advice on property development projects, planning permissions, and related matters.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant property law, planning regulations, and environmental legislation.
• Conduct due diligence on property transactions and identify potential legal risks.
• Liaise with external legal advisors, surveyors, and other property professionals as required.

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor or Lawyer with a strong background in UK property law .
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in commercial real estate transactions.
• Proven ability to manage complex property deals and provide strategic legal advice.
• Excellent understanding of leasehold enfranchisement, landlord and tenant law, and property development.
• Strong negotiation and drafting skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively within a legal team and collaborate with non-legal departments.
