Job Description
We are looking to recruit an experienced Level 3 HGV Technician to join a busy commercial vehicle workshop in the Glasgow area.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in high‑quality workmanship, can diagnose faults confidently, and enjoys working within a fast-paced, professional environment.
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (higher negotiable for experience)
Hours: Full-time, permanent
The Role
*
HGV maintenance — routine servicing, inspections and safety checks
*
Diagnostics & fault finding — mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
*
Repairs & component replacement — engines, gearboxes, brakes, suspension, steering
*
Tachograph calibration (if qualified)
*
MOT preparation — ensuring vehicles meet DVSA standards
*
Breakdown support — occasional roadside diagnostics and repair
*
Workshop documentation — completing job cards, inspection sheets and service reports
*
Adhering to H&S procedures — maintaining a safe and compliant working environment
Key Requirements
*
Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent)
*
Strong background working on HGVs, LGVs or commercial vehicles
*
Confident diagnosing faults across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
*
Experience with gearbox repairs, engine rebuilds and major component overhauls
*
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
*
Full UK driving licence (HGV licence beneficial but not essential)
*
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high workshop standards
