Support Pupils to Access Education

Do you have a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification and experience working with children with additional needs?

Protocol Education are looking for a Level 3 TA to join a specialist setting in Gateshead, supporting children and young people with physical and/or medical needs .

You’ll play an important role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, using specialist equipment, assistive technology and accessible ICT to support their individual needs.

What You’ll Do

• Support pupils with physical and medical needs.
• Assist with classroom activities and personalised learning.
• Adapt activities and resources where necessary.
• Encourage independence and participation.
• Support pupils with assistive technology.
• Prepare and check specialist equipment.
• Support alternative communication systems.
• Help maintain accessible ICT.
• Troubleshoot basic technology and equipment issues.
• Support safe movement and positioning.
• Follow individual health and support plans.
• Communicate effectively with teachers and other professionals.
• Monitor pupils and provide clear feedback.
• Support inclusive practice across the setting.

About You

We’re looking for someone with:

• A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Experience within SEND or specialist education.
• Experience supporting physical and/or medical needs.
• Good ICT skills and confidence using technology.
• A willingness to learn and develop specialist knowledge.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Good organisational skills.
• Flexibility to work across different environments.
• A full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.

This role would suit a proactive TA who wants to develop specialist experience while making a practical difference to pupils’ access, independence and learning .

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
