About the Role
Our client, an acclaimed developer of immersive gaming experiences, is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Level Designer to join their fully remote team. You will be instrumental in crafting engaging and memorable game levels, designing layouts, scripting encounters, and ensuring a seamless flow of gameplay. This role demands a strong understanding of player psychology, spatial reasoning, and game mechanics to create compelling interactive spaces. As a remote team member, you will collaborate closely with other disciplines to bring intricate and exciting levels to life, contributing directly to the core player experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement compelling game levels , including block-outs, layouts, and final art integration.
- Script gameplay events, puzzles, enemy encounters, and narrative beats within levels.
- Collaborate with game designers , artists, and programmers to achieve the desired player experience.
- Optimize levels for performance, pacing, and playability.
- Create documentation for level design elements, including maps, flowcharts, and scripting logic.
- Iterate on level designs based on playtesting feedback and team reviews.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience as a Level Designer in the video game industry.
- Proficiency in using game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity for level creation.
- Strong understanding of level design principles, including pacing, flow, sightlines, and environmental storytelling.
- Experience with scripting languages or visual scripting tools is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously in a remote setting .
- A portfolio showcasing diverse and engaging level designs across different genres.
