Light Vehicle Drivers Waste Services

Location: Coventry, CV3 Pay: £13.47 per hour PAYE Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday Start: ASAP Contract: Temporary – initially until 26 October 2026 Positions: 3

We are recruiting for 3 Light Vehicle Drivers to support a busy Waste Services team in Coventry with the rollout of a new food waste collection service. This is a hands-on driving role involving the delivery of food waste bins and associated materials to residential properties across the city. You'll be driving a light goods vehicle of up to 3.5 tonnes, so a standard full UK driving licence is required.

## The Role

Your day-to-day duties will include:

Driving a 3.5-tonne light goods vehicle safely and responsibly

Delivering food waste bins and associated materials to residential addresses

Loading and unloading bins throughout the working day

Following planned delivery routes and schedules

Completing delivery records accurately

Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects

Working to daily delivery targets

Dealing politely and professionally with members of the public

Following all relevant health and safety procedures

Supporting the wider Waste Services team when required The wider Waste Services driver duties include responsibility for vehicle checks, safe operation, documentation and dealing appropriately with residents and members of the public.

## What We're Looking For

You must:

Hold a full UK driving licence suitable for driving a 3.5-tonne vehicle Have a clean driving licence Be aged 18 or over Be physically fit and comfortable with regular manual handling Be reliable and punctual Be able to work independently and as part of a team Have good communication and customer service skills Be comfortable working outdoors and being active throughout the day

Previous delivery driving, logistics, waste or similar operational experience would be useful but isn't essential.

## Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 7.5 hours per day Friday: 7 hours Total: 37 hours per week 30-minute unpaid break each day This would suit someone who enjoys being out on the road rather than sitting behind a desk and doesn't mind a physically active working day.
