About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Lighting Artist to enhance their visual storytelling within the arts and entertainment industry in Liverpool . You will be responsible for creating atmospheric and visually stunning lighting that brings scenes and characters to life, significantly impacting the overall mood and aesthetic of our projects. Working within a collaborative team of artists and technicians, you will leverage your technical and artistic skills to craft immersive environments. This role is perfect for a creative individual who understands the power of light in shaping narrative and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement lighting setups for 3D scenes, environments, and characters to achieve specific artistic and narrative goals.
- Collaborate with art directors and concept artists to define the lighting style and mood for various projects.
- Utilize lighting software and techniques to create realistic or stylized lighting scenarios, including global illumination and dynamic lighting.
- Optimize lighting performance to ensure smooth frame rates and efficient rendering in real-time engines or for offline rendering.
- Troubleshoot and resolve lighting-related issues, ensuring consistency and quality across all assets.
- Stay current with advancements in lighting technology and rendering techniques within the entertainment industry.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Lighting Artist or similar role in the gaming, animation, or VFX industry.
- Proficiency in industry-standard lighting software and renderers (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity, Maya, Arnold, V-Ray).
- Strong understanding of light theory, color theory, composition, and mood creation through lighting.
- Experience with baking lighting and setting up real-time lighting pipelines is essential.
- Ability to interpret artistic direction and translate it into effective lighting solutions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for collaborating with a hybrid team.
