About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent and caring Livestock Technician to join their established farming operation in Wolverhampton . This role is crucial for the day-to-day health and welfare of the animals on the farm. You will work closely with the farm manager to ensure optimal conditions, provide necessary care, and assist with breeding programs. This hands-on position is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for animal husbandry and a strong work ethic, contributing directly to the productivity and ethical standards of the farm.
Key Responsibilities
- Feed and water livestock according to prescribed schedules and dietary requirements.
- Monitor animal health, identify signs of illness or distress, and report concerns to management.
- Assist with veterinary treatments, vaccinations, and routine health checks.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of animal housing, pens, and surrounding areas.
- Support breeding programs, including artificial insemination if required.
- Operate and maintain farm equipment used for livestock management.
- Maintain accurate records of animal movements, health treatments, and production data.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with livestock, preferably in a farm setting.
- A good understanding of animal husbandry principles and animal welfare standards.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and handling animals.
- Basic knowledge of animal health and common diseases.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong attention to detail.
- A willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
