Are you at your best when you’re out meeting businesses, opening doors and turning conversations into long-term commercial relationships? We are recruiting an experienced Local Business Development Executive to join a major automotive dealer group, developing business across the Manchester area.

Previous automotive fleet or commercial vehicle experience would be particularly relevant, but we are also interested in strong B2B or B2C sales professionals who can demonstrate the ability to prospect, develop relationships, negotiate and close business.

This is a genuine field-based business development opportunity covering passenger cars, commercial vehicles, fleet, aftersales and parts.

You’ll be targeting local businesses operating fleets of up to 100 vehicles, developing new relationships while managing customers throughout their journey.

The opportunity

You’ll have a strong product offering behind you and the ability to provide customers with a much broader solution than simply supplying their next vehicle.

Your role will include:

• Researching and identifying businesses across the Manchester area with fleets of up to 100 vehicles
• Prospecting for new SME and local business customers
• Making direct contact with business owners, fleet contacts and decision-makers
• Arranging and attending appointments at customer premises
• Developing passenger car and commercial vehicle opportunities
• Promoting fleet, vehicle, aftersales and parts solutions
• Preparing tailored presentations based on individual customer requirements
• Building relationships from initial introduction through to vehicle ordering and delivery
• Developing opportunities within existing accounts
• Attending local networking events, Chamber of Commerce meetings and business breakfasts
• Working closely with dealership sales, service and fleet operations teams
• Maintaining accurate CRM records and reporting on appointments, activity and new customers

• Fleet Sales Executive
• Fleet Sales Manager
• LCV or Commercial Vehicle Sales Executive
• Vehicle Leasing Consultant
• Contract Hire or Leasing Sales Executive
• Corporate Sales Executive
• Automotive Business Development Manager
• Experienced Vehicle Sales Executive with strong B2B prospecting experience

You’ll need:

• A minimum of two years' sales experience
• Strong new-business and prospecting skills
• Confidence approaching businesses and decision-makers
• Excellent relationship-building and customer service skills
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• The ability to work independently and manage your own territory
• Good organisational and CRM skills
• Commercial awareness and confidence negotiating in pressured situations
• A full UK driving licence held for at least six months with fewer than nine penalty points
