Logistics Coordinator - Fleet Management

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and organized Logistics Coordinator to manage and optimize their fleet operations in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is crucial for ensuring efficient transportation of goods, managing driver schedules, and maintaining vehicle compliance. You will play a key part in coordinating daily activities, troubleshooting logistical challenges, and improving overall operational efficiency within the Tyne and Wear region. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and internal departments, contributing to the seamless flow of our client's supply chain operations and fostering a culture of operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily dispatch activities and driver assignments to ensure timely deliveries.
• Monitor fleet performance, tracking vehicle locations and delivery progress in real-time.
• Manage driver schedules, including shift planning, breaks, and route assignments.
• Ensure all vehicles comply with legal requirements and company maintenance schedules.
• Act as a point of contact for drivers, providing support and resolving operational issues.
• Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption for reporting.

Requirements

• Proven experience in logistics, transport coordination, or fleet management.
• Strong understanding of transportation regulations and best practices.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask.
• Proficiency in logistics software and MS Office Suite.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with field staff.
