Logistics Dispatcher

About the Role

Our client is looking for a vigilant and efficient Logistics Dispatcher to manage and coordinate delivery schedules from their busy hub in Leeds . This role is critical for ensuring that goods are transported smoothly and efficiently, meeting delivery deadlines and customer expectations. You will be the central point of contact for drivers, providing them with routes, delivery information, and support throughout their shifts. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised individual with a keen eye for detail to excel in a fast-paced transportation environment within the Yorkshire region.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and assign daily routes for a fleet of delivery vehicles ensuring optimal efficiency and timely arrivals.
• Communicate effectively with drivers via radio, phone, or mobile applications to provide instructions, updates, and support.
• Monitor driver progress, delivery times, and vehicle status throughout the day using dispatch software .
• Respond promptly to any issues or emergencies that arise during transit, such as delays, breakdowns, or customer concerns.
• Maintain accurate records of all dispatched loads, delivery confirmations, and driver activities.
• Liaise with warehouse staff to coordinate loading schedules and ensure vehicles are dispatched on time.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a dispatcher or in a similar role within the transportation or logistics industry .
• Familiarity with route planning and dispatch management software .
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
• Knowledge of the Leeds and surrounding areas road network is advantageous.
