Logistics Planner

About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent Logistics Planner to join their operations based in Sunderland . This role is central to optimizing the flow of goods and ensuring that transportation and delivery schedules are managed efficiently. You will be responsible for planning routes, coordinating with carriers, and resolving logistical issues to maintain the smooth operation of the supply chain. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail, contributing to the efficient functioning of our client's logistics department within a collaborative office setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule transportation routes and delivery times for goods, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to deadlines.
• Coordinate with shipping carriers, warehouse staff, and customers to manage the movement of goods.
• Monitor shipment progress and proactively address any disruptions or delays that may impact delivery schedules.
• Maintain accurate records of all logistics activities, including shipment details, delivery confirmations, and associated costs.
• Optimize logistics operations by identifying areas for improvement in efficiency and cost reduction.
• Prepare reports on logistics performance, including delivery times, costs, and carrier performance.

Requirements

• Previous experience in logistics planning, supply chain coordination, or a related role.
• Strong knowledge of transportation management systems and logistics software.
• Excellent organizational and planning abilities, with a high level of accuracy.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal teams and external partners.
