Logistics Planner

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and analytical Logistics Planner to join their operational team based in Leeds . This role is essential for the efficient planning and execution of transportation and delivery schedules, ensuring that goods reach their destinations on time and within budget. You will be responsible for optimising routes, managing carrier relationships, and resolving any logistical challenges that may arise. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of the Logistics & Warehousing landscape, contributing significantly to the seamless operation of the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise daily, weekly, and monthly transportation and delivery plans.
• Source and manage relationships with third-party logistics providers and carriers, negotiating rates and service level agreements.
• Monitor shipment progress, proactively addressing any deviations from the plan and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and company policies.
• Utilise logistics planning software to forecast demand, plan capacity, and track performance metrics.
• Collaborate with warehouse operations and customer service teams to ensure smooth coordination of all logistical activities.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Logistics Planner , Transport Planner, or in a similar planning role within the logistics industry.
• Strong knowledge of transportation modes, routing, and supply chain operations.
• Proficiency in using logistics planning software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity for strategic thinking.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with carriers and internal stakeholders.
