Learning Support Assistant (Team Teach / Personal Care / Manual Handling / Peg Feeding)

Temp Contract - £18 per hour umbrella

Location: South East London

About the Role

You will be supporting students with complex and additional needs, working closely with teaching staff to ensure every learner can access their education safely and with dignity. This role calls for a calm, compassionate approach and hands-on experience of the specialist support techniques listed in the title.

You will build meaningful, trusting relationships with the young people you support, helping them to feel secure and understood throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing one-to-one and small-group support to students with complex needs.

Delivering personal care with sensitivity, dignity and respect.

Using Team Teach techniques to support positive behaviour and, where necessary, safe de-escalation.

Carrying out manual handling procedures in line with individual care plans.

Supporting students who are peg fed, following agreed protocols and training.

Working closely with teachers, therapists and families to support each student's individual plan.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

Team Teach training

Experience of providing personal care to young adults

Manual handling training or practical experience

Experience of peg feeding

Ability to build rapport and meaningful connections with young people

A patient, caring and resilient approach

Desirable (but not essential):

Previous experience as a learning support assistant in a SEN setting

Relevant qualifications in health and social care or education support

Ready to make a difference
