M&E Project Engineer/Senior Project Engineer Location: Sandown - Isle of Wight (Southampton first 6-9 months) Rate: £500 per day + Ferry Travel costs Duration: 12 Months+/ongoing The Opportunity We are currently looking to strengthen the delivery team with an experienced M&E Project Engineer to support the delivery of a major clean water Non-infrastructure project in Sandown. The role will be based in Southampton for the first 6-9 months of the assignment, before moving across to the Isle of Wight as the project progresses past pre-construction. Travel to and from the Isle of Wight will be paid for, making this an attractive opportunity for candidates based on the mainland who are looking for a long-term project without having to absorb the additional travel costs. Reporting into the M&E management team, you will support the Project and Construction Managers in coordinating the engineering, design, procurement and delivery strategy. You will play a key role in ensuring technical information is issued in time to support construction and commissioning, while also contributing to project cost control, programme management and commercial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project and Construction Managers in developing and implementing an effective M&E delivery strategy.
- Coordinate engineering, design and procurement activities to ensure information is available to support construction and commissioning.
- Monitor project costs against tender and approved variation allowances.
- Provide relevant cost and progress information for project forecasts and reporting.
- Support the preparation and management of the project programme.
- Monitor progress against programme and produce regular progress reports.
- Liaise closely with design teams to ensure technical solutions are developed and progressed in a timely manner.
- Ensure designs are developed with consideration for safe construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance.
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage supply chain expedition and monitor subcontractor performance.
- Work closely with site management to resolve design, procurement and delivery issues.
- Assist with contract reviews and monthly forecasting.
- Support the preparation of applications for payment and associated project information.
- Maintain effective project and contract filing systems.
- Support the preparation of O&M manuals and handover documentation.
- Assist with construction completion, commissioning and project take-over activities.
- Contribute to project risk and opportunity schedules.
- Evaluate innovative engineering solutions and processes where appropriate.
- Support the capitalisation process.
- Maintain strong and professional relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with relevant CDM and Health & Safety requirements.
- Maintain a positive, collaborative and solution-focused approach throughout the project.
About You
We are looking for an experienced M&E Project Engineer with a solid engineering background and experience supporting the delivery of major infrastructure projects. A background within the water and wastewater sector would be highly beneficial, particularly candidates who understand the challenges associated with M&E installation, treatment processes, construction and commissioning. Essential Experience
- Strong engineering / technical background.
- HNC or higher engineering/technical qualification.
- Experience working on major construction or infrastructure projects.
- Experience coordinating engineering, design, procurement and site delivery activities.
- Experience working with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Proven experience with supply chain expedition.
- Working knowledge of NEC and other relevant forms of contract.
- Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes.
- Good understanding of CDM and Health & Safety requirements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, commercial, design and construction teams.
Desirable
- Relevant professional engineering qualification.
- Experience supporting M&E delivery from design through construction and commissioning.
- Strong commercial and programme awareness.
