Shift: Monday - Friday - Double Days
Job Role of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established process manufacturing business in Manchester. Working as part of an experienced engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining a mixture of modern and legacy plant equipment through planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding and continuous improvement.
This is a hands‑on mechanical role where you will work across a varied range of process equipment, helping to improve plant reliability, resolve recurring faults and support ongoing investment across the site. The business places a strong emphasis on safety, engineering standards and development, offering excellent opportunities to expand your technical skillset.

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
- Mechanically biased maintenance background.
- Level 3 Engineering qualification / apprenticeship (or equivalent).
- Previous manufacturing maintenance experience.
- Strong mechanical fault‑finding ability.
Requirements of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
- Reactive breakdown maintenance.
- Mechanical fault finding and troubleshooting.
- Pumps, valves and gearboxes.
- Agitators and actuators.
- Vessels and process equipment.
- Basic pipe fitting.
- Experience identifying and resolving mechanical blockages.
- Continuous Improvement.
- Strong Health & Safety awareness.
Desirable Requirements of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
- HNC qualification or above.
- Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical or Power industry experience.
- Previous experience within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Continuous process manufacturing experience.
