Maintenance Engineer - Sunderland

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Engineer to join their team in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our facilities and equipment. You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnosing and repairing faults, and implementing preventative measures to minimize operational disruptions. This hybrid position involves both on-site hands-on work and the potential for some remote coordination, planning, and analysis of maintenance data. The ideal candidate will be proactive, possess strong troubleshooting skills, and be committed to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a variety of industrial machinery and facility systems.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose faults, and carry out necessary repairs efficiently.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment and techniques to identify the root cause of mechanical and electrical issues.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and preventative actions taken.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations across all maintenance operations.
• Collaborate with production and operations teams to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a mechanical or electrical maintenance engineering role.
• Strong understanding of maintenance principles, including both reactive and preventative strategies.
• Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, manuals, and diagnostic reports.
• Skilled in using a range of hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying potential issues.
• A relevant engineering qualification (e.g., HNC, HND, NVQ Level 3) is preferred.
