Maintenance Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join their manufacturing facility in Reading . This role is essential for ensuring the reliability and optimal functioning of all production machinery and equipment. You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnosing and repairing faults, and implementing preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical skills, a problem-solving mindset, and a commitment to upholding high safety standards on site.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all production machinery and plant equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system faults promptly.
• Respond to machine breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests.
• Install and commission new equipment as required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and manage spare parts inventory.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer or in a similar role, preferably in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and PLC systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with preventative maintenance techniques and systems.
• Relevant technical qualifications (e.g., HNC/HND in Engineering).
