Maintenance Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join their manufacturing operations in Portsmouth . You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of all plant machinery and equipment through preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance strategies. This role is crucial for minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous production flow. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and electrical background, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues efficiently. You will contribute to a culture of proactive maintenance and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on all production machinery and facility equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on plant machinery.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and implement effective repair solutions.
• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities and equipment history.
• Identify opportunities for improvements in machine reliability and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety regulations during maintenance activities.

Requirements

• Apprenticeship or formal qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
