About the Role
Our client seeks a seasoned Maintenance Supervisor for their Stoke-on-Trent based mining operations, specializing in heavy equipment. This role is pivotal in ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of a diverse fleet of mining machinery, including excavators, haul trucks, and drilling rigs. You will lead a team of skilled technicians, manage preventative maintenance programs, and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy equipment maintenance, exceptional leadership abilities, and a commitment to operational excellence within Staffordshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
- Develop, implement, and manage a robust preventative maintenance schedule for all heavy mining equipment.
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical failures in mining machinery.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are performed safely and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes to minimize downtime.
- Train and mentor maintenance technicians, fostering a culture of skill development and safety consciousness.
- Conduct regular inspections and performance reviews of equipment to identify potential issues.
Requirements
- Proven experience (7+ years) in heavy equipment maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for a wide range of mining machinery.
- Experience with preventative maintenance strategies and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Solid understanding of hydraulics, diesel engines, electrical systems, and welding.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Familiarity with safety regulations in the UK mining industry.
