Major Gifts Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Major Gifts Officer to cultivate and secure significant philanthropic support for their esteemed organisation in Oxford . This critical role focuses on identifying, engaging, and stewarding high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and foundations to secure major gifts that will significantly advance our client's strategic objectives. You will be responsible for developing and executing a tailored strategy to maximize income from this key donor segment, working collaboratively with senior leadership and development teams across Oxfordshire and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors .
• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with prospective and current major gift donors.
• Work closely with senior leadership and board members to engage them in fundraising efforts.
• Prepare compelling proposals, case statements, and reports tailored to major donor interests.
• Manage a personal portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, meeting ambitious fundraising targets.
• Represent the organisation at high-level events and engage in networking opportunities.

Requirements

• Proven track record in major gifts fundraising or high-value philanthropy, preferably in the charity sector .
• Demonstrated success in cultivating and securing significant donations from individuals and foundations.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage at a senior level.
• Strong understanding of fundraising best practices and donor stewardship.
• Ability to think strategically and develop innovative approaches to fundraising.
• Experience in prospect research and relationship management using CRM databases .
